Student Art Show

One week on, and we are still all so excited about the success and support shown for our first ever Student Art Show. A big thanks to Mark Hodges - Member for Castle Hill (pictured here with our art teacher Ms Davenport). Mr Hodges came to check out the display and picked an artwork each from Primary and Secondary for an MP award. He did comment on the talent of the students and that it was a very difficult thing to choose! We're sorry we gave him such a tough job. Those special mentions, along with the people's choice awards will be announced next term.

This Art Show was put on as a small part of our Learning to Thrive Community Wellbeing Program, thanks to a NSW State Government Community Development Fund grant. We wanted to get our school community together and socialising, but also be able to show off the skills of our students to the wider community at the same time. As was evident on the night, their artistic abilities are to be applauded. Art has a positive impact on wellbeing for our students, among other things. According to the UK Mental Health Foundation: "It can help to boost confidence and make us feel more engaged and resilient. Besides these benefits, art engagement also alleviates anxiety, depression and stress." #gabeslearningtothrive

We hope you're all having a safe and happy holiday, with lots of creative activities planned!
