Shrove Tuesday

Today was Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday takes place the day before Ash Wednesday (which is the official start of Lent which has traditionally been a time of fasting in the Catholic faith). As such, people would use up eggs, sugar and dairy from their pantry before the fast began and so it affectionately became known as 'Pancake Day'.

We celebrated Shrove Tuesday with pancakes and milkshakes for recess and by raising money for charity as part of our Gabes Give Back program. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice, and uphold dignity.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped support the day.
