Going on a Flora Hunt

Just like the famous children’s book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, Year 3s headed off on a hunt for flora and fauna.

Stage 2 having been doing a unit of work on State and National parks. Year 3 class started the journey in our own back yard with a forest trail with their teacher and our groundsman (and nature enthusiast) Mr Hinton. The forest trail is a beautiful walk that has been created on our grounds. The students saw lots of birds, insects, native plants, a brush turkey nesting mound and a fox hole. They continued to learn and write about native flora and students made these beautiful individual artworks displaying Wattle, Waratah, Grevillea and Banksia.
