Hearing Support at St Gabriel's

At St Gabriel's School some students have a hearing impairment.

Teachers are supported to use specific teaching techniques and visual aids across the curriculum. Where applicable, radio frequency aids are used in conjunction with hearing aids and cochlear implants to ensure that students have complete access to all areas of curriculum, as learning to listen is the first major step towards communication and social skills.

Visits from Australian Hearning Services occur twice a year, while each day hearing checks are completed to ensure audiological equipment is functioning properly so that students can access cirriculum and learn to their potential.

Sound Field Systems are used in all classrooms so that children can hear without the interference of white noise.
