Hearing Support at Gabriel's
At St Gabriel's School students who have a hearing impairment are fully included in all aspects of school life.
Teachers are supported to use specific teaching techniques and visual aids across the curriculum. Where applicable, radio frequency aids are used in conjunction with hearing aids and cochlear implants to ensure that students have complete access to all areas of curriculum, as learning to listen is the first major step towards communication and social skills.
Teachers provide additional language support in class and these activities are sent home to be used for pre-teaching, revision and discussion.
