St Gabriel’s School “Gift of the Gab’’ fundraiser held Friday 4th May definitely spoke volumes that the Hills community spirit is alive and well. Having raised $55,000 from the event, this was truly a fundraiser with lots of heart.

Celebrities such as guest MC Tim Webster, foodie Janelle Bloom, author Kathryn Fox, jockey Corey Brown and paraolympian skier Michael Milton filled the Lyceum room at Castle Hill RSL with much laughter and stories about their career.  Adding to the excitement in the room were moving stories told by Brother Gerry Mc Grath, one of the long standing principals at St Gabriel’s, Lisa Lipovac, a current parent of a child at St Gabriel’s, and Stephen Lawlor ,  an ex student – all in the name of celebrating  St. Gabriel’s  turning 90 years and providing education to generations of  children with special needs.

From the proceeds of ‘Gift of the Gab’ fundraiser, the students at St. Gabriel’s school for hearing impairment and special needs will continue to receive  the biggest gift of all, the gift of communication. “These funds will provide the technology and resource that enriches our student’s learning and ability to communicate” says Principal, Mrs Kathy Freeman.

St. Gabriel’s would like to thank its families, supporters and local community whom have been so generous in making this event as successful as it is and acknowledges that the school is very fortunate to be surrounded by such a strong community. “ Events such as ‘The Gift of the Gab’ truly reinforce that we are blessed with so many wonderful supporters and we look forward to keeping those relationships for the next 90 years.” Mrs Freeman said
